Aneeshwar Kunchula is a child poet who reached the Final and placed 7th during Series 15 of Britain’s Got Talent. He was aged 7 and was a schoolboy at the time of his audition. He was the first ever Judges Golden Moment act who was invited to audition by a judge in the form of David Walliams.
In his audition, he recited an original poem about climate change which delved into the fact that pollution is harming the earth and killing animals which were represented by other children who were Aneeshwar’s classmates, whilst several drawings of Earth was shown on the stage behind him, with his performance concluding as a child dressed a tree entered the stage. Amanda commented ‘when I think of somebody like David Attenborough, somebody obviously we all look up to and admire, your the perfect person to follow in his footsteps’, with David adding ‘this is the moment the world met Aneeshwar’.
In the Semi-Finals, he recited an original poem about Plastic Pollution in the oceans, alongside deforestation and how Tigers and Elephants had to compete with humans for survival. Alesha remarked ‘It was such a powerful poem, beautifully given with fantastic expression and genuine heart’, with Simon adding ‘Here’s a conversation I think is going to happen with Mr Attenborough’, before he impersonated Attenborough and stated he believed he could ask him to take over coverage of the BBC’s ‘Blue Planet’. He won the Judges Vote with three votes from David, Alesha & Amanda and therefore advanced onto the Final.
In the Final, he recited a poem about how littering and landfill was causing the extinction of several species and how if we protected the environment sooner we could have prevented their extinction and could prevent the extinction of further wildlife alongside the planet as a whole. Amanda remarked ‘You got your message across and you did it in such a beautiful, animated and confident way’, with Simon going on to describe Kunchala as a ‘very very very special young man’, adding how Kunchala’s poems made him sit in his seat ‘transfixed’. He placed 7th during the Public Vote.
