Libby and Charlie are a dance duo who reached the Final of Britain’s Got Talent in Series 13. They were both 11 years old at the time of audition, and when asked by Simon ‘Who’s the boss?’, both of them said themselves.
In their audition, they performed a routine to ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri, after which Alesha remarked ‘You two have just got it’, with Simon adding ‘Your choice of song, your absolute friendship, your choice of fun – it was one of my favourite dance acts on this show’. The duo advanced onto the following round and initially failed to reach the Semi-Finals, however they were brought back in order to perform in the final Semi-Final of the Series at the last minute after danger act Brotherhood were forced to withdraw due to safety concerns.
In the Semi-Finals, the duo danced to a ‘Sing, Sing, Sing‘ by Benny Goodman and His Orchestra, using top hats as props, which they threw into the audience at the end of their performance. Simon remarked ‘It was like we’d come to see your show’, with Alesha adding ‘It just goes to show that hard work and dedication pays off’. They finished third in their Semi-Final, however they were brought back to perform in the final as the Judges’ Wildcard.
Their Final performance began with a speaker announcing ‘Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s showtime at the Copacabana!’. The pair then appeared on the Judges’ panel, beginning their dance there and then moving onto the stage, where both Libby and Charlie performed their own solo routines, before culminating their performance on the Judges’ panel once again to ‘Dancin’ Fool’ by Gary Wilmot & The “Copacabana” Ensemble. Simon described the act as ‘Absolutely brilliant’, adding ‘You just light up the room’, with David stating ‘You’ve just got better and better and better’. The duo ultimately placed 10th overall.
